Testimony
Three years ago, I was a mess. I was filled with anxiety, stress, fear, anger, and I was stuck in repeated cycles of sin and lust. I was lost. I was drinking a lot, and I was not present in the life of my children and my wife.
No matter what I did to feel accomplished, I could not fill the emptiness inside me. I did not want to go to church. I viewed Christians as robots, people who could not think for themselves, and honestly, I thought they were boring. So I avoided church and avoided Christians.
Deep down, I think I was ashamed of the things I had done in my life. I felt like God could not want someone like me. I would ask myself, “How could He, after everything I had done and all the sin in my life?”
At work, I happened to be seated next to my buddy Loukas, who is Greek Orthodox. He would talk about his faith, and he was so sure of Christ and where he was going when he died. That made me curious. I started looking up videos on YouTube about salvation and Christ. I guess the seed had been planted.
On March 31, 2024, my sister invited me to church for Easter Sunday, but I declined. I made excuses for why I could not attend. Then, at 5 a.m. that Sunday, I woke up and could not go back to sleep. I started looking on my phone for churches in the area. Something was calling me to find a church.
I found a little church down the road that had an early morning service. I figured I could go in, sit through the service, and leave without having to talk to anyone. But it did not work that way.
I went to the morning service, and I felt something, almost like a calm wave come over me, as they were inviting people to accept Christ. I did not have the courage to go up to the front, but right there, I accepted Christ as my Savior and asked for forgiveness.
Since then, I have been baptized. My wife joined the church, and now my two older daughters have been baptized too. God changed my life, my heart, and my family. What started with emptiness, shame, and fear became forgiveness, faith, and a new life in Christ.
