Statement of Faith & Doctrine
We are Christians gathered from various churches and traditions, united not by a denomination, movement, or earthly institution, but by our common faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. As we share fellowship, friendship, and recreation together, we gladly confess the historic faith handed down in the Holy Scriptures and proclaimed throughout the ages by the Church of Jesus Christ.
Part I: The Triune God and His Revelation
Concerning the Holy Scriptures
We confess that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, given by the Holy Spirit, trustworthy in all they teach, sufficient to make us wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, and the final authority for faith and life.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
Concerning God
We confess one God, the Creator of heaven and earth, eternal, holy, sovereign, and worthy of all worship. We confess that the one God exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three Persons and one God.
Concerning Our Lord Jesus Christ
We confess Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who for us and for our salvation became truly man without ceasing to be truly God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived without sin, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. On the third day He rose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven.
We confess that He now reigns as Lord at the right hand of the Father, where He intercedes for His people and rules over all things. We further confess that He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom shall have no end.
Concerning the Holy Spirit
We confess the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, and who gives life to the people of God. He convicts of sin, testifies to Christ, dwells within believers, and empowers them for holy living and faithful witness.
Part II: Humanity and the Work of Salvation
Concerning Humanity, Sin, and God's Love
We confess that all people are created in the image of God and therefore possess inherent dignity, worth, and purpose. Yet humanity has fallen into sin through rebellion against God, and all people stand guilty before Him and in need of His mercy and redemption. Sin has affected every part of human life, separating us from God and leaving us unable to save ourselves.
Yet God, in His great love and mercy, did not leave humanity without hope. Even while we were sinners, He demonstrated His love by sending His Son to redeem us.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Concerning Salvation
We confess that salvation is the gracious work of God accomplished through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through His atoning sacrifice, Christ bore the penalty of sin and secured reconciliation with God for all who believe.
We confess that salvation is received by grace through faith and not by human merit or works. Those who trust in Christ are forgiven, justified before God, adopted into His family, reconciled to Him, sanctified by His Spirit, and granted the gift of eternal life. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, believers are continually being transformed into the likeness of Christ as they await the fullness of their redemption.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”
Part III: The Church and the Christian Life
Concerning the Church
We confess one universal Church, the body of Christ, composed of all who belong to Him through faith in every nation and generation. The Church is greater than any single denomination, movement, or earthly institution, for its unity is found in Christ Himself.
At the same time, we affirm the God-given importance of local congregations, where believers gather for worship, discipleship, fellowship, prayer, the ministry of the Word, and mutual encouragement. We encourage every member of this community to be faithfully connected to a local church body where Christ is honored and the Scriptures are taught.
Concerning Christian Unity
We confess that all who belong to Christ are brothers and sisters in Him. While faithful believers may differ on secondary matters of doctrine and practice, we seek to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, speaking the truth in love and showing charity toward one another.
We therefore seek to discuss such matters with humility, conviction, and charity, recognizing that our unity in Christ is greater than our disagreements.
“In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.”
Concerning Our Witness in the World
We confess that the Lord Jesus Christ has called His people to be His witnesses in the world, bearing testimony to the good news of salvation in every place He sends us. This calling extends into every sphere of life, including our homes, workplaces, communities, and even the digital spaces where we gather and play.
We therefore encourage one another to be ready to give a reason for the hope that is within us, doing so with gentleness and respect, so that Christ may be honored in our words and conduct.
We confess that God has entrusted to His people the ministry of reconciliation, making His appeal through us as ambassadors for Christ. As those who have been reconciled to God, we are called to invite others to be reconciled to Him through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We also remember the charge of the apostles to be faithful in the work of evangelism, patiently and courageously sharing the good news in season and out of season, trusting that it is God who gives the increase.
